Blocking Products from Your Vendor Catalog
Hide specific brands, categories, or SKUs from a vendor catalog so they stop being pushed to your store.
Blocking Products from Your Vendor Catalog
Sometimes you need to keep certain products out of your catalog. A brand might require special dealer approval, a category might not be allowed on your sales channel, or you might not want to carry a specific SKU. The Blocked Products feature lets you hide these at the vendor level so they stop appearing in your catalog and stop being pushed to your store.
Where to find it
Open your site, click into a vendor, and look for Blocked Products in the left sidebar.
Each vendor has its own blocklist. Rules you set on one vendor don't carry over to another, so if the same brand is available through two vendors and you want to block it in both places, you'll need to add the rule on each one.
What you can block
You can block at three levels:
- Brand: hides every product from that brand
- Category: hides every product in that category
- Individual SKU: hides one specific product
Rules apply to products currently in the catalog and to any new products that come in through future catalog updates. You don't need to reapply a rule after a refresh.
Blocking by brand or category
At the top of the page, the Block / Restore by Brand / Category panel has two multi-select dropdowns, one for Brands and one for Categories. Both are searchable, so you can type to filter down instead of scrolling through the full list.
Select what you want to block and click Block Selected. The items drop into the Current Blocked Products Rules table below and stop appearing in your catalog right away.
Restoring works the same way. Select the items in the dropdown and click Restore Selected, or click the green Restore button on the rule's row in the table underneath.
Blocking a single SKU
Scroll to the Catalog Preview table at the bottom of the page. This is a paginated view of every product in the vendor's catalog, showing the photo, SKU, name, brand, and category for each item. Use the Search SKU box in the top right to find the product you want to block, then click Block on that row. The product is added to the Current Blocked Products Rules table above as a product-level rule.
This is useful when you want to keep most of a brand but pull one specific SKU out of the catalog.
Managing your rules
The Current Blocked Products Rules table shows everything you've blocked for that vendor. Each row lists:
- Type: Brand, Category, or Product
- Value: the brand name, category, or SKU that's blocked
- Blocked On: when the rule was created
- Actions: a Restore button to undo the block
The counter at the top of the panel shows how many active rules you have, which is a quick way to sanity-check your setup.
A note on the catalog entry count
You might notice the total entry count at the bottom of the catalog view doesn't subtract blocked items. That's a pre-existing display quirk that isn't specific to this feature, and a separate improvement for it is already in progress. The catalog itself is filtering correctly. Blocked products aren't being pushed to your store or considered in catalog jobs. The number you see is just cosmetic.
FAQ
Does blocking a product delete it? No. Blocking hides the product from the catalog and stops it from being pushed, but the rule is reversible. Click Restore any time to bring it back.
Will blocked products still update in the background? No. Once a product is blocked, it's excluded from catalog processing for that vendor until you restore it.
Can I block the same brand across multiple vendors at once? Not in one action. Blocklists are per vendor, so you'll add the rule on each vendor where you want the brand hidden.
What if a product is blocked but was already pushed to my store? The block prevents future pushes and updates. Existing listings on your store aren't automatically removed. You'll want to clean those up through your store's admin or a separate process.
