FAQ: How do I cancel an order?
Learn how order cancellations work in Spark Shipping and what steps you need to take if an order has already been sent to your vendor.
If you need to cancel an order, the process depends entirely on whether the order has already been transmitted to your vendor. Please review the guidelines below to ensure your cancellation is handled correctly.
Canceling an Order Already Sent to a Vendor
Important: You cannot cancel a submitted order from within the Spark Shipping dashboard once it has been sent to the vendor.
Because Spark Shipping automates the transmission of orders to your vendors, our system cannot retract an order once it is in their queue. To cancel a submitted order:
- Contact your vendor directly: You must reach out to the vendor's customer service or support team via phone, email, or their portal immediately.
- Act fast: We highly recommend contacting them as soon as possible before the item is processed or shipped from their warehouse.
Alternative Order Management Options
If the order has not yet been sent to the vendor, and you aren't trying to cancel the entire order, or if you want to prevent orders from routing automatically in the future, you can use these built-in Spark Shipping features:
1. Processing Partial Orders
Before processing the order, if you only need to cancel a specific item within an order or override a vendor selection, you can process a partial order.
- Learn how to manage this in our guide on Processing Orders, Partial Orders, and Overriding Pre-Selected Vendors
2. Placing Orders on Hold
To prevent orders from automatically sending to vendors before you have a chance to review or cancel them, you can set up automation rules to flag them first.
