Mapping Automation Guide – Mapping Opportunitis
The Mapping Automation feature in Spark Shipping is designed to help users quickly and efficiently match their existing store products with vendor catalogs. By using smart logic and filtering tools, you can automate this process to save time and reduce manual errors.
📋 Before You Start
Before using Mapping Automation, ensure the following:
-
All vendors are set up and connected in your Spark Shipping account.
-
All vendors catalogs and feeds are correctly pulled into the system.
🧠 Mapping Logic Types
Spark Shipping offers four main logic types for mapping and cross-mapping products:
1. Exact Product SKU to Vendor SKU Matching
-
Compares your store’s product SKU directly with vendor SKUs.
-
If an exact match is found, it will be shown with the match reason "Exact Product SKU to Vendor SKU".
2. Exact UPC Matching
-
Compares the Universal Product Code (UPC) of store products with vendor catalog UPCs.
-
For cross-mapping, it can also use the UPC from a vendor the product is already mapped to, and look for new matches in other vendor catalogs.
3. Exact Brand Name + Part Number Matching
-
Matches based on the brand name and manufacturer part number (MPN).
-
Works for both new mappings and cross-mappings.
-
In cross-mapping, it compares brand and MPN from an already mapped vendor to newly added vendors.
4. SKU Prefix/Postfix Matching
-
Useful when your SKUs have static prefixes or postfixes.
-
Example: If store SKUs start with
A15
, but vendor SKUs start withABC
, Spark Shipping will mapA15-001
toABC-001
accordingly. -
This setting is managed under each vendor’s configuration page.
🔄 Mapping vs. Cross-Mapping
-
Mapping: Identifies products that are not currently mapped to any vendors and looks for their first vendor match.
-
Cross-Mapping: Finds additional vendors for products already mapped to at least one vendor.
Use the filtering tool to switch between Mapping and Cross-Mapping views.
🗂 Understanding Mapping Results
Once the system runs, it continuously scans for mapping opportunities. Results appear in a table with the following columns:
-
Product SKU and Title: Shows existing products in your store.
-
Suggested Vendor: Indicates the vendor that may be a good match.
-
Vendor SKU: The corresponding SKU from the vendor.
-
Mapping Type: Either
Map
orCross Map
. -
Confidence Score: Ranges from low to very high.
-
Match Reason: Displays the logic type that triggered the suggestion (e.g., Exact UPC Match, Brand + Part Number Match).
💡 Tip: You can filter mapping results by:
Mapping Type (
Map
orCross Map
)Match Reason
Vendor Name
Confidence Score
📈 How Confidence Score Works
Confidence scores are based on:
-
Matching logic (e.g., UPC match = Moderate or high confidence).
-
Multiple matching attributes (e.g., UPC + Brand/MPN = Very high confidence)
-
Cost proximity between store and vendor pricing.
✅ Start with accepting "High" or "Very High" confidence opportunities for best accuracy, and carefully review Moderate, Low and Very low opportunities.
✔️ Accepting or Rejecting Opportunities
You can manage mapping suggestions easily:
-
Accept opportunities (individually or in bulk by selecting “Accept Visible”).
-
Reject suggestions to remove them from the open list.
-
View accepted or rejected items using the relevant tabs.
🧠 Bulk actions allow you to process up to 1,000 products per page.
📁 Tabs Summary
-
All Open Opportunities: All suggested mappings currently available.
-
Accepted: Products you’ve approved.
-
Rejected: Products you’ve declined.
