Understanding "Cheapest" vs. "Service Level" Shipping Options (Turn 14
Learn the difference between Turn 14’s “Cheapest” estimated shipping methods and carrier-defined “Service Level” options — and how to choose the right one for your orders.
When shipping orders through Turn 14, you’ll now see a few different shipping method types. Here's what they mean and when to use them.
“Cheapest” Shipping (e.g. 1-Day Cheapest, 2-Day Cheapest, etc.)
These are based on Turn 14’s estimated transit times, not the actual service level selected with the carrier.
For example, if you’re in Pennsylvania and Turn 14 ships from its PA warehouse using FedEx 2-Day, they might estimate that it will arrive in 1 day — because it's nearby. That’s what shows up as “1-Day Cheapest,” but there’s no delivery guarantee attached to it.
“Service Level” Shipping (e.g. FedEx 2-Day, UPS Ground)
These are actual carrier-defined shipping methods. If you select FedEx 2-Day, for example, it means Turn 14 will ship using FedEx’s 2-day service — with expected delivery timeframes backed by the carrier.
When to Use Each Option
If you want to... | Choose this |
---|---|
Save money and are flexible on time | Cheapest |
Prioritize speed and reliability | Service Level |
-
Cheapest is best when cost savings matter most and delivery time isn’t critical.
-
Service Level is better for urgent shipments or where delivery time needs to be predictable.
Final Notes
-
The “Cheapest” methods are based on Turn 14’s best estimates, not carrier guarantees.
-
“Service Level” methods tend to cost more, but offer more predictable delivery windows.
