How to Remap Shopify Product Variants in Spark Shipping (Using Merges.io or similar)

Follow this workflow to ensure accurate product SKU mapping when creating variant listings in Shopify with merges.io.

Step 1: Push Products to Shopify

From your vendor catalog in Spark Shipping, push (add to site) all the desired products you plan to merge.

  • Verification: Confirm that all selected products are fully visible in your Shopify catalog before moving to the next step.

Step 2: Export Mapping Files

Export the mapping file containing productsku and vendorsku for each applicable vendor using Bulk Export Vendor Product Data.

  • Verification: Check your downloaded files to ensure you have saved the export file(s) for all target vendors.

Step 3: Merge Products in Shopify

In Shopify, use merges.io or your chosen tool to merge your individual products into parent/child variants.

  • Important: Make sure to enable the setting in merges.io to archive/delete the original listings in Shopify.
  • Verification: Confirm that original listings are archived after merging.

Step 4: Purge Vendor(s) in Spark Shipping

Purge the associated vendor(s) within Spark Shipping. For a step-by-step guide, see How to purge vendors & default vendor.

  • Verification: Allow this step to complete fully in Spark Shipping before moving on.

Step 5: Sync Product Data

Allow your site to sync overnight, or manually trigger a refresh from your Spark Shipping Dashboard using Product and Order Refresh.

  • Verification: Ensure the product refresh or overnight sync process has finished completely before proceeding.

Step 6: Remap Variant SKUs

For each vendor you exported, run the SKU mapping file(s) using SKU Mapping - Bulk to remap all of the new variants.

  • Verification: Verify in Spark Shipping that all new variants are properly linked and mapped to their vendor SKUs.
